It’s been a month since the last blog post so here’s an update:
School: For some strange reason I’ve been feeling like Alice when she first fell through the rabbit hole as she sat trying to figure out what the heck has been going on! I’m only taking two classes but they are the worst honestly! Well one is horrible and the other is an experience to say the least! The course is Managing Creative Minds and the Professor is seriously having us examine the creative mind and the motives behind peoples actions. This process has made me question almost every work and school experience I’ve had, especially ones dealing with those in positions of power. The studies that have been done on those who abuse positions of power are extremely interesting.
Although school overall hasn’t been very exciting and I’m lacking focus I am learning a few things especially in my Introduction to Textiles seminar.
Internship: Honestly it’s been rather difficult to juggle the internship and school. Marie Claire is such an addiction to me as well as all of my other Fashion endeavors. I have a history of becoming engulfed in things and then growing extremely jaded by them and this time around I am trying everything I can to avoid doing that this time around.
I’m learning a lot about the basics of how a magazine works. It’s a little different from working as a Stylist or in TV Wardrobe but the bottom line is the same! Managing Samples, which includes pick ups, returns, tracking setting up racks, making boards etc.
For the past could of weeks I’ve been communicating with my direct boss via email solomente! because she’s been in Milan and Paris for their fashion weeks, and it’s been interesting. Honestly having email as the only form of communication is what lead me to quitting my last job! Luckily she’s back and things will be back to normal now.
I fell in love with Marie Claire back when I wanted to be a writier b/c of the content of the feature stories and now here I am working here on the fashion side of things. I’m not sure if I’d want to be an Editor, I’m not sure if I want to be a Stylist, honestly I’m not sure of what it is that I actually want to do but for the time being working at Marie Claire has been awesome.
Other than work and school I pretty much have no life! Yet I’m in the process of getting my ducks in a row for my special project launch. I’m going to try to do much more posting in the coming weeks because I really want to chronicle all of my experiences this time around!
Thanks for reading!
